Prince Sultan’s historic space flight on the Discovery shuttle in 1985 marked many firsts for the shuttle program. The Saudi prince was the first Arab, Muslim, and member of royalty to travel into space. The mission was also unique because its crew came from three different countries on three different continents. They faced the challenge of carrying out cultural norms while in outer space. But Prince Sultan found a way to do everything, including praying three times a day and fasting during Ramadan. He is now the President of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities.
The good thing about praying towards Mecca while on the space shuttle, is that you might be able to actually see Mecca while positioned 300 miles away, something impossible on earth, I think.

One thing’s for sure, figuring out which way Mecca is is easy from space; just face the planet. 😃

Just curious, but if he is floating on his prayer rug and somebody starts spinning him around:D, I wonder how many more prayers he would have to make to insure he was “facing meca”??

Did you know that it’s mentioned in Quran that Allah ordered Muhammed to pray towards Jerusalem and later on he ordered him to pray towards Mecca…

Sort of like how God revealed one of His Names to Abraham, and a different one to Moses?
