Suppose someone is obstinately gravely sinning or obstinately refusing confession, will God answer their prayers?
I understand that when in mortal sin the soul loses sanctifying grace and is therefore not in communion with God. I know they can’t approach communion nor receive indulgences until they have made a good confession. However, if that person were to pray the following prayers could God grant their intentions:

I know they can’t approach communion nor receive indulgences until they have made a good confession. However, if that person were to pray the following prayers could God grant their intentions:
- petitionary prayers regarding non-spiritual matters (e.g. financial problems, family issues, personal needs etc.)
- prayers on behalf of other souls (whether for the conversion of sinners or for the non spiritual benefits of their neighbour)
- prayers for the souls in purgatory
