I was reading in a thread in a prayerful manner, and discover one poster say he was reading instead of praying, so I thought it might be useful to have a thread to discuss reading threads and praying at the same time.

As I read threads, I try to invite God to read them with me, through my mind and provide His insights. This may lead to praying for the assistance of individuals as things are read, such as difficult situations or misleading posts, praying for the assistance of groups of people, such as dissident priests, praying for myself, prayers of thanksgiving, prayers of worship and praise, and so on.

When posting, I try to see God’s perspective and ask him to lead my posts to what he wants them to be.

I would have to agree with you, in that when I read the threads or formulate a post, I feel a fellowship with God and other Catholics. I look at this as a wonderful support system.

I feel that there are not many places I can go and shout my love for the Lord and the Blessed Mother. My friends feel I have “gone over the edge into religious wackdom” lately. I do not feel that rejection here in this forum.

A great example - one thread discussed “The gift of tears”. Until I read this thread, I was embarrassed that I cried at church and Adoration. Now I realize other people do this too, and believe it to be a gift. Great affirmation for me!

I agree!

I caugt myself posting uncharitibly yesterday. I didn’t pray, I wasn’t feeling good, and what I was reading reallly aggravated me. I did the same thing that I was upset with others for doing.

Then I went to prayer meeting. Boy was I ever convicted of what I had done. I got home and asked forgiveness of my error. I was so thankful no one had posted. Then after my post someone read it, and they commented on how it made a difference to them.

So, God is good all the time & all the time God is good!

A Prayer to be said when entering an internet forum.

:gopray2: Dear God, thank you for all that you are done for me and those who are special to me. Grant me the wisdom to understand the truth contained in what I read as well as the falsehoods. Help me to be loving to all I encounter, either in my mind as I think about their posts, or in my posts as I respond and communicate with others. When I post, grant me patience in waiting for good replies to my post. Inspire me when a start a new thread to word the thread in a way that invites others to participate in a Christian manner. Fill me with Your Love and Peace. Bless others as they read my posts, that they may understand what I am trying to say and see the Truth that You wanted me to communicate. I ask this in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen. :gopray2:

This is a good example to follow. 🙂

:blessyou:

Thomas,

This is off-topic, but what does SFO stand for?

I like your site, btw.

I hope Thomas doesn’t mind me answering for him, but SFO stands for “Secular Franciscan Order”. It is for secular people who feel a call to live according to the life or way of St. Francis of Assisi.

Thomas please pray for me as I am struggling in my discernment in this vocation. I am currently a canditate in the Sacramento region of this order. Thanks! - God bless all! - Mfaustina1

When there is a thread that concerns a personal problem, I pray to the Holy Spirit for guidance and advice to come from His Gifts.
SInce we are called to lead others to Christ in a deeper and fuller manner, to keep fellow Catholics from Sin is a vocation of it own. We are called not to lead fellow Christians into sin, so I ask for guidance and charity.

If everyone on these forums could to this (either pray before, during, or after posting), I am sure the quality of the posts will be enchanced and the lives of those who partake here will do also.

As for the more ‘fun’ topics… I am sure God does have a sence of humor.

go with God!

You are not alone - to love God in this day and age, you might as well wear I sign that says “I’m a nut bar” because that is what everyone thinks - Oh they’ll accept you loving God, just don’t take it seriously.

I makes me wonder why Muslims can bow to the east in the middle of an amusement park - and no one care or Jews can walk around with a skull cap and everybody go oh well that’s just what they do. This is “suppose” to be a christian country (I’m talking about North America) but Lord help the Christian who professes his faith too loudly!

Because following Jesus doesn’t mean you can live by your own rules and do as you want and if it feels good do it!

Mulsims pray 5 times a day, but who are they praying too? Who do they have to help them. See they do everyting themselves.

We believe Christ works in us, though us, and with us. Mother Thresa said, whatever we do we do, we do it for Jesus, with Jesus, and to Jesus. People just don’t want to do that.

It is all a control issue! Just like Adam and Eve in the garden.

I too share your thoughts… And I just want to say, though I try to be prayerful when making my posts, I have found that I haven’t always been as charitable as I would like to be…Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa… Thanks for this Thread Thomas…It’s a good reminder to always try to think with the ‘mind of God’… Annunciata:gopray2:

As I referenced to this in another thread, I thought it might be useful to mske it a current thread.
