Praying While You Are Waiting?

So I had to wait today, and I figured it would be a good idea to pray. I managed to fit in a Divine Mercy Chaplet, a Rosary, and a few random prayers. 🙂

Of course, I didn’t have my Rosary with me, so I just said it on my fingers (I usually say the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet on my fingers anyway, because I usually say them when I am getting ready in the morning, and taking a shower/shaving.)

Does anyone else pray while waiting?
 
Sometimes. Yesterday while waiting for my sister-in-law in the waiting room at her eye doctor appointment I prayed and meditated for a bit. Really can’t think of a better way to spend time than doing either of these. Blessings.
 
I find that sometimes a prayer is about trusting in God, to be with God, to praise God, to love the Love that loves us.

Waiting requires us to do nothing. It is in that nothing (mental stillness of self) where all faith (trust) becomes in conscious contact with God. We become the prayer that intercedes with God.

All virtues require us to do nothing (not interfere) with God’s will. It takes absolute faith to do nothing, to allow patience, tolerance, forgiveness, humility, allowance, acceptance, fearlessness, etc., to happen.

The Rosary is a good starting point for such a prayer.
 
Yes. I think what you do is really wonderful. We are called to be in prayer unceasingly. That’s what you are doing in your own way. I bet that pleases God.
 
Not usually, unless what I am waiting for makes me anxious. Difference is if I get somewhere early and know I will have x minutes until an appointment. I like to know I will be able to finish my prayers.
 
I probably chat to God more than pray. I have learned that unless unless I am in the quiet (with God), leaving my mind idle is not a good idea - it gets quickly filled with things I dislike and I move away from Him.
 
I don’t necessarily pray so much as make sure I remember all the prayers in the rosary. I finally have it all memorized, but I still check myself throughout the day to make sure.
 
I do this all the time when I’m waiting in an office (dentist, doctor, etc.). I either pray my Rosary or read my Diveine Office or other prayer devotion.
 
Yes, like others, I always give some time to prayer when I’m in a waiting room. If I’m waiting for someone in my car, I always keep some book of spiritual reading in the car too.
 
I do. But I tend to talk too much in prayer; I need to listen more! 🙂
 
I tend to pray while waiting less than I could, but when I do, I tend to use the Jesus Prayer. (I typically use what seems to be the longest common form, which in English appears most often as “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.” Other forms include “Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me.”)
 
I’ll pray while driving or in an airport or airplane or wherever I experience downtime. That cannot replace regular devotions but it is nice, a bonus.
 
I was able to pray yesterday the joyful, sorrowful and glorious mysteries plus the divine mercy chaplet while waiting for my mom finish a project…
