Praying with people with Dementia?

Is there any “point” praying with person/s with severe Dementia?
I know that some people say yes there is because they have a hope that the person might still understand something on some level but I am more referring to severe end of Dementia where it is very obvious that the person has lost all concept about Jesus,prayer,lacks the capacity to “conceptualise” /contemplate the notion that there is a God,has no understanding and lost the ability to reason anymore or understand what is going on around them or meaning of spoken work and can’t understand concepts like sin and compassion etc…

I don’t necessarily mean prayers for their healing -which I wish God would do but I sadly believe in reality this will never happened as you never hear stories of this-
but just praying in general too.

Just say the prayer. Whether or not they realize what you are saying, prayer positively benefits those who it’s intended to help.
I’ve prayed over a sick pet on my lap and the animal couldn’t pray along and maybe didn’t understand what was going on, but it wasn’t wasted I’m sure. It would certainly not be wasted on a human who had dementia, or was unconscious, or any other condition that made the person unable to pray and/or understand.
 
The Lord hears ALL prayers. And how do you know that there is no cognative activity in the person with dementia? People have been declared dead-brain dead-no brain activity-and have surprised a lot of Drs. and medical professionals. Keep praying with and for the people or family with dementia. At the very least pray for their comfort and palliative care. Peace.

I would pray the familiar ones with them, Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be and Act of Contrition. It is quite possible that they would understand and appreciate this.

my experience with dementia patients is

they remember the Lords Prayer and the Hail
Mary.
And the Mass.

they might forget what part the Priest says and Laity say but

its just so amazing doing Rosary or Mass with Dementia patients

Yes they generally remember stuff from long ago.
