But remember to keep his life in perspective of his time and the usual habits of non-christian young men of that time. While I do not condone having a concubine etc., this was quite normal.
(The concubinate is not to be confused with “having a woman on the side”, like we often see it today, but in those times, it was a lasting relationship with a woman the man couldn’t or wouldn’t marry, because her standing was too low or he was set up to marry another woman who was yet too young etc.)

Though “Confessions” does describe much about his life, I am not aware that any of his writings get into his personal sexual behavior at any level of detail.

I’ve actually been looking for links to websites to give me both the books and the information and quotes that I need. We’re not really given the time to read ALL of the works of our favorite authors. -.- I thought, “What better place than CATHOLIC ANSWERS???”

His hypothesis on marriage, I believe there were five of them, if memory serves correctly were quite interesting and pretty well explained his views on sexuality, marriage, procreation etc. In his pre Christian days he was a Manachean. They did not believe in pro creation so at that time he practiced contraception of some sort.
