With respect to the Virgin Mary, she did not transition from “unsaved” to “saved.” There was no transition. She was free from original sin from the first moment of her existence. There was never a moment of her existence in which her soul was stained by original sin. This grace of sanctification was through the merits of the death of her son. His saving work is not limited by a temporal boundary. It reached back to preserve his mother from original sin at her conception.
