Pre-existence ??

An LDS friend of mine related a doctrine of her faith about pre-existence to me. That is, that we existed ( spiritually) prior to our births, chose our parents, our personal trials, and even the time in history in which we would live. Do we (catholics) have anything similar to this in our faith?
 
NOPE! God FOREKNEW us, but we did not exist prior to our creation by God at conception. The only human who had a PRE-EXISTENCE is Christ Jesus.
 
Yeah, like Mary, because she was to bear the Word incarnate, she was in the divine mind at the dawn of time, but she didn’t pre-exist!
 
The pre-existence oif souls (or heretofore, as one waggishly put it) is one of the heresies of Origen specifically condemned by the Fifth Ecumenical Couoncil.
