Does anyone know the official (reference if you can please! But if nobody knows then opinions welcome too.) teaching on pre-supposing forgiveness?

Say, in a situation where Joe plans to do sin X and pre-supposes God’s forgiveness. Joe does sin X, and then does genuinely feel bad and repent and ask for God’s forgiveness. Does Joe’s former pre-supposition nullify his current repentance?

Opinion Post =)

I would imagine that the sinner would both need to be repentant of the sin and of the pre-supposing of the sin. And then one would, as I understand it, need to will to not pre-suppose forgiveness and the sin. This is hard.

Personally, I find it so much harder to will not to pre-suppose forgiveness once I go down that path. My advice is before you even do next time, don’t go there =).

If we intentionally are going to commit a sin & we presuppose Gods forgiveness, & commit that sin & are sorry afterward, & we ask forgiveness, that sin is forgiven, people do it all the time. Remember God is Merciful & knows man is weak
