I agree. All we must do is yield to it-with all that implies. I think one difference may still be that, with Catholic teaching, “anyone who turns to Jesus Christ” may also turn away from Him again, just as Adam & Eve were free to turn from God in the beginning. Now while God knows definitively just who will and who will not persevere-(who are His and who are not His in the end)-we can’t know with that same 100% assurance. The Catholic virtue known as Hope is very great-it’s actually a confidence in Gods promises, and yet, while God loves us unconditionally, there’s still a condition on our salvation-we must come to love Him-along with as our neighbor-the same way.
thanks for the reply
Your right, but please keep in mind:
It is true that Jesus said:
Mat:22:
36: Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37: Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38: This is the first and great commandment.
39: And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40: On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Note verse 40, on this do they hang, but it is not an excuse, or a command to disregard the commandments the law and the prophets.
And He also said at the sermon on the mount:
Mat:5:
17: Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18: For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19: Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Please take note that to sinners Jesus’ answer is to forgive, and to accusers His answer was “Wo onto you”. For Salvation cannot be with the accuser.
The commandments the law and the prophets, is what is in the Lord God’s Heart, and was fulfilled.
