Predestination?

This is a subject I’ve struggled with for a long time. Many people assert that there is little or no choice in salvation. There are those who are saved and those who are not, as outlined in the book of Romans. Those who are not can in no way bring salvation on themselves, and those who are cannot avoid it.

It seems a harsh, rigid doctrine. What do people think? I’ve had many a discussion on the subject.

Nielz, I think that your understanding about Predestination has been colored by the Calvinist perspective on the doctrine, not the Catholic one. I hope you find these articles helpful:
