Hi Guys,

I have recently found found out that my fiance is pregnant with our 2nd child and just want to advice on superstition.

I know being a Catholic we don’t believe in superstition but these flowing questions keep popping up

“its bad luck to buy baby things before a baby is born”

Its bad luck to keep the pram/buggy in your house?"

Cheers,

Tony.

These are silly.

Buying a baby stroller, baby clothes, baby crib, baby whatever will NOT in any way affect the outcome of your pregnancy. That is like saying that buying an umbrella will make it rain or that putting on sunscreen will make it sunny. It simply doesn’t make sense.

That being said, it would be wise to hold back from any major purchases until your fiance is a bit along. You say you just found out about the pregnancy, so I am assuming she is less than a couple of months. Many early pregnancies are miscarried, which is why many people wait a few months before telling people they are pregnant. So, it is wise to wait to make purchases in case there is a miscarriage, but that only makes sense.

Buying stuff now will not cause a miscarriage or other bad luck…it’s just that if a miscarriage happens, you will have bought the stuff for no reason…which could be a huge waste of time, money, and space.
