Pregnant a month before wedding date

Congratulations for both major events of your lives !

FYI, during the time of the Blessed Mother, it was common for couples who were betrothed, to have sexual relations prior to the marriage itself.

Because you’re pregnant doesn’t make you or your fiance bad people

Just do the right thing and pray, because being married is something to get use to. Adding a child to that adjustment is going to be more difficult, but joyous at the same time.

Is that so? I’ve never heard that before. Handfastings in pre-Christian Britain, perhaps. Betrothals among the Israelites in the Holy Land?

I try not to be one of these “sources, please” people — that’s incredibly off-putting and borders on calling the poster a liar — but could you direct me someplace where I could read more about this? Just curious.

Never say this to a woman until she changes from an innie to an outie. Two reasons,
  1. It’s kind of like that thing on the turkey to indicate that it’s time, and
  2. at this stage, she’s unlikely to be able to catch you . . .

about thirty years ago, someone thought to go through there records of the pilgrim settlement.

There was a birth within six months of the wedding two thirds of the time!

I’d try something like “Hebrew betrothal”.

I know that the betrothal was legally binding.

I’ve heard in the past that relations would generally have been licit at that point, but I won’t make the claim without looking it up.
 
And antidepressants, caffeine, drugs in general… The list goes on.

That would be wise, my good man. We may waddle instead of run when pregnant, but never underestimate our aim.

There’s a saying that when you’re pregnant, everybody becomes your midwife or obstetrician. I say we leave it up to her and her prenatal care provider.
