Another tip: You have a moral responsibility to bring them up in the Faith, to feed, shelter and clothe them, and to provide them with primary and secondary education. You do not have a moral responsibility to put them through college.

Really? That is kind of a personal view of what is necessary for children. I most certainly have a moral responsibility to put my kids through higher education. 🤷

Congrats to the OP! You’ll be fine. Just keep calm and carry on 👍

No, you don’t. You may feel a personal obligation, but they are adults by the time they leave for college. You would be doing them no injustice by expecting them to pay their own way if they choose to go to college.

Congratulations!!!
I had three under 3 (0,1,2) for a couple of months as well :), four 4 and under and five 5 and under. I definitely agree with the posters that say God will not give us more than we can handle (we do have to ask for His help, though, ;), can’t do it alone 😃 ). Lol, when we had #1 I remember thinking that I had no idea how anyone could have more than one child… even if they wanted to…we remained open and had #2 and saw that God had not given us more than we can handle. Sure, some (many 🙂 ) days may be kinda crazy, but I love the family God has blessed us with and thank Him for putting it in our heart to be open to these beautiful gifts.
I can relate to the insurance as well, I did not have a maternity rider with my first 5, so I know it can be a little stressful, but things worked out better than I would have thought. For the first time we have insurance with #6!

Congrats!!! Don’t worry, no one knows better than God, so their comments are nothing compared to the fact that God has chose you and your husband to receive these little blessings at these times!!!

Oh yes I do. My culture and sense of what is necessary for children is different from yours. American norms of how to raise and treat children do not apply to the rest of the world. This has nothing to do with our faith.

Congratulations!!!

Ok, you’ve totally got me beat! I think k I just need time for this to soak in. WOW!

Sorry this isn’t much of a pep talk…but congrats on expecting another. My wife an I have been trying for years, we just conceived last October but miscarried by December. 😦

If it is any consolation we can’t wait to be faced with your problem if God permits it for us.🙂
This^

And from an only child (moi) who wished she had had siblings. Congratulations to you and your husband and your other little ones. It will work out. Pray!
I take it you live in a socialist utopia somewhere?
Why the snark and the attempt to derail the thread? 😦 Did you get up on the wrong side of the bed this morning? :dts:

I think that was the point of the original comment about paying for college, actually – that our faith does not require us to pay for a college education for our children. Is it nice to do that for our children? Absolutely. Will many of us feel that we should? Definitely. But ensuring the Christian formation of our children (which the Church tells us we are indeed obligated to do) does not necessarily mean that we have a religious obligation to pay for our children’s college education.

I took the original comment about college to be reassurance to the OP, when she might face criticism from others for a third pregnancy – one potential objection from nay-sayers being “how will you pay for college?”

To the OP… Congratulations!! I will say a prayer tonight that your insurance situation can be worked out. God has an amazing ability to provide. 🙂

Number **one **came before our first wedding anniversary. She was a surprise and a big adjustment, but it was mostly good fun. Number **two **came and I started to think it was all a bit much. She had more issues from an early age and ran us down a bit. Number **three **came 15 months later. A big surprise. When we first found out I had a little (internal) panic! But she’s great and by now I was resigning myself to God’s will. By the time number **four **came, I was completely accepting of God’s will. After three girls I didn’t think the odds of a boy were great, but a boy it was. My wife in particular wanted a boy so that was very pleasing. I was least worried about the fourth birth.

After ever one of these, there were comments about birth control, “is that it for you now?” etc. I laughed them off or ignored them. I often gave a vague reply: “you never know…I love my kids”. And that’s the truth…any time I think back to those sorts of comments, I wonder which one of my wonderful kids they think I shouldn’t have had. Is four too many? Maybe for some people, and maybe if we’d planned things and left God out of the loop we would have settled at two or three…but I’m not giving any of them back now!

Yes, this is what I was saying.

Congratulations. Every new life is a gift from God and you are thrice blessed.

My sister had 4 under 4 (twin babies), all grown up now and none moved very far away. She’s elderly and widowed and her kids are very supportive of her. What you put into them now will be returned to you in spades.

By the time your kids are old enough for higher education, I doubt that universities will be the same huge, staff intensive, costly places that we have now. The world is changing. Enjoy every minute of seeing your babies grow.

Find other families in your parish that have bigger families and seek advice from the people who have done it. They’re normal people with normal jobs, they just learn to prioritize better out of necessity. In my parish, there are lots of families with 4, 5, 6… and some even with 10 or more, so my 3 looks small. Lots of vans in the parking lot on Sunday. But they all had 1 once (except for the couple that started with twins), and then 2, and then 3… You adjust to your new reality and you keep living your life. With God’s help (and some help from family and friends) you can do it too. 😃

We are a family of 7. My mother and Father, me and my siblings. The Lord provides, we are beyond blessed! Money comes and goes, but family is forever.

I think it was still 50/50, lol.
We were told contradictory things regarding this and based on our obstetrician’s advice had presumed greater chance of another girl. But you’re right, I think the stats do show that it is pretty much 50:50 (or slightly higher, about 51%, for being male). In some cases there are biological reasons why a given couple may be more prone to having gender of one type of the other, but on a population level it’s pretty even.

True. A population of one isn’t necessarily going to be 50/50.

Congratulations on your son (and on your daughters, too, but now you’re no longer Abu el Banat - if you watched The West Wing you’ll know what I mean).

Just a thought: my stepdaughter found it impossible to conceive until she changed doctors to one who put her on high vitamin D, she was really low. Now she has a 3 year old. Some doctors don’t bother to check that.

:extrahappy: CONGRATULATIONS!! :extrahappy:

I’ve been there with 3 under 3, and 4 under 4 etc. It’s the best thing ever! I’m now ending my child bearing years and do not regret one child!! lol I may not be the best mom but I have the best kids 😉

I wish I could bring you a meal and have your kids over to play, but instead I’ll say a pray to our lady for you. Perhaps this new little one will be the priest that converts and baptizes all those nay-Sayers.
