First off, the posters on this thread need to stop insulting the OP’s husband. She has said that he would not support adoption or abortion. The abortion is not his idea and he is not pressuring her. Stop making him out to be a monster, because women who feel alone and like they don’t have support are more likely to get abortions, not less.
Secondly, to the OP, you are 5 weeks pregnant. That is virtually no time at all to digest this new information. It’s no surprise that you are shocked and scared, let yourself feel those things for awhile, you may find that after a little while you are more at peace with the idea.
As for abortion. Here’s something to think about: Many places ask you “Have you ever had any moral or religious objections to abortion?” How are you going to answer? Would you say “Yes, in fact, I was so pro-life last month that I insisted that my husband not pull out so that we could be open to children?” If you tell them that, there’s a good chance you’ll be referred to a counselor to see if you are emotionally able to handle an abortion. And even if they don’t ask, or even if they do ask and you lie to them, you cannot lie to yourself. The fact that a few weeks ago you felt that strongly is an indication that in a few more, once the shock wears off, you’ll feel that pro-life again.
If you get an abortion now, chances are it would be done with RU-486, or Mifepristone, which essentially induces a miscarriage by blocking progesterone. This drug is generally used up to 9 weeks of pregnancy, but some states limit it to 7. You are at 5 weeks now. You still have time to think, consider, explore options, look for help, and build some cooperation with your husband before you would have to resort to a surgical abortion. No harm can come from waiting. Waiting will allow you to really consider the things I mentioned in the previous paragraph, and give you some more time to come to terms with the pregnancy. If after waiting, you decide not to do it, I think you’ll be grateful. If after waiting you still decide to do it, then at least you gave yourself some time and space to get your mind and emotions worked out.
