Hey, I have had “Unfriendly” and distrusting thoughts towards other peoples, of specific nations, religions, and other back rounds. I would like to know if this type of Prejudice is sinful. I tend to distrust or have bad opinions of non-christian countries, and people. and a type of dis-trust towards Non-Catholics as well.

I’m not so sure you can control how you feel and think, but you certainly can control what you do about those feelings and thoughts.

The first thing you need to do is be well aware of what you’re feeling and why. There is usually a reason why people feel the way they feel. Maybe you were treated harshly by someone of a different faith because you didn’t share the same faith? Maybe you yourself are a bit insecure and fear being “converted” by those of a different faith? Maybe you see certain cultural custom unsavory? Just remember how you would feel if you were on the receiving end of this negativity.

The next thing you should do identify what actions come out of those feelings, and if those actions are wrong/evil/immoral/unfair, I would change them. Immediately.

In life, you’re going to encounter people of different faith, different culture, different standards, etc. And you’re going to have to learn to deal with them.

If you think your ways are so much better than other people’s ways, then you need to prove it by your actions and deeds.

It’s not sinful because it’s not something you can help. Unfortunately it is natural for human beings to think this way.

It would be a sin if you started to mistreat people because they are not members of the same race or religion.

This might seem strange, but it;s like this. There are a certain countries that I have a dislike for in history. Like for example the Ottoman Empire, Spain, etc…
I am scrupulous, and I would like to know if having a dislike for groups / countries in history to be wrong?

So it isn’t a sin untill my “dislike” turns into an action?
