Ok, so i seem to have a huge problem i do not know how to solve,

I have met the love of my life and we’re getting married 17th of Aug this year, we’re currently living continents away from each other, she’s in US-LA i am in Sweden, we’ve met the priest for a meeting and everythings been absolutely perfect, we’ve booked the church and paid deposit i have invited my family who will have to travel for 24hrs and bam - church told us we need to attend premarital counseling, pls notice our marriage request is already approved.

now to the problem - i honestly think its a good thing and believe it would strengthen our boundaries in hard times, however as i am on the other side of the world i cannot attend the counseling with my fiance, i called the church and they told me we could do it separately locally, the problem is that in my part of the world there are no counseling available before my marriage and i cannot go to US before either.

how can i possibly solve this?
is there anyone with any advice, i would highly appreciate it - everyhing has been taken care of to the best of our knowledge and this obstacle just appeared.

thanks,

Talk to the priest. He should be able to do the counseling over Skype or via some other means where you can be present virtually.

Thanks, let me clarify i think i started this thread incorrectly, it is not counseling, its a course i believe there is a difference between counseling and course, as far as i understand we already had the counseling - but now we need to attend a premarital course?

does it makes sense? apologize the confusion.

Just wanted to say congratulations and God bless you. Living in Sweden and keeping your faith must be very difficult with that type of isolation.

Thank you I appreciate it an yes indeed it’s hard over here as a matter of fact I don’t know anyone that is catholic or believe in God at all… However not sure what isolation you refer to?

I was referring to the not having other Catholics around - but I guess in a way you have reached out and found a community so maybe I stand corrected. 👍

Thanks - we’re on the same page and your right, you really are an outsider trying to live somewhat catholic.

Appreciate your support.
