How do you prepare for reception of the Eucharist?
  • Be in a state of grace which may necessitate going for Confession.
  • For those eligible, observe the Eucharistic fast which is one hour before the Holy Communion.
  • Participate in the mass meaningfully.

👍

I’ll take it another way. When I am kneeling and getting ready to go to Communion, I pray and thank Jesus for His sacrifice on the Cross. I thank Him for giving me the opportunity to receive His Body and Blood. I ask Him to make me worthy to receive Him.

Who is eligible for the fast?

And what constitutes meaningful participation?

He meant, if you satisfy the first criteria…then you should observe the hour fast.

Meaningfully in this instance means, paying close attention, allowing the readings to seep into your mind and heart, and praying with fervor, participating in the responses and the singing. In other words…being engaged, and not just showing up.

Nice to see you online again.

Okay, thank you. 🙂 That takes work. I like to sing along with choir during Liturgy, but my mind is good at wandering. I can never pay 100% attention. :o

Thank you! 🙂
