Friends, we’ve finally made it: my husband is in agreement that it is time for me to stay home full time with our children. I have been home on maternity leave for the last 2.5 months. Because of the need of a minor surgery that could not be scheduled until mid-November, I will be returning to work on November 1st simply to keep my health insurance benefits until the surgery takes place on November 13th. When I return to work from this surgery, I will be putting in my two weeks notice on that day! I am overjoyed and terrified all at the same time. In my personal experience (and this is said absolutely in my own experience–nobody else’s–and without judgement of anybody else), being home with my kids is a million times more work than my paid job. I love being home, and I am eager to make this my life. On the flip side, I greatly enjoy the grown-up interaction that can be found at work. I also enjoyed the fact that at least twice a day, I got a break. At home, not so much. 😛 (I somehow was blessed enough to have my preschooler and infant napping at the same time today! Score! :D)

I am asking today for prayers. I have fears in my heart that are unfounded. What if I am bad at this? What if I don’t raise my kids right? What if I’m a disappointment? What about our finances? What if, what if, what if? I know these fears are unfounded! I am not bad at this. I am raising my kids well. I sure hope I’m not a disappointment… and as for finances, I genuinely believe we’ll be alright. Things will be enormously tight, but we’ll be alright.

I’m rambling a little bit, and I apologize for that. I am just so happy with our decision. I’m so happy with my family! But I am also aware that this is a big decision and a big change. If you could say some prayers for my family as we make this transition, I would really appreciate it!

God love and keep you all,

Ophie.

I’m so glad for you!! I hope that you are able to make this transition without setback, and that your intellect is successful in overpowering your fear. 🙂

Pax Christi!

You and your family are on my prayer list.

God bless.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen!
