Preparing for the persecution of Christians in America

Around he world christians are being killed, beheaded, marginalized, and deprived of their rights.

Now in America there has already been a soft form of persecution at the workplace tied to the view that christians are intolerant and bigots. In the military if you witness Christ to someone you can be discharged.

Now that SCOTUS has legitimized this type of Christian persecution I expect job losses and lawsuits against Christians and Christian businesses to vastly increase.

We know by scripture and different prophetic revelations that eventually the holy offering of the Eucharist in the mass will be banned by law and the clergy and religious persecuted and arrested.

I do not claim to know how to prepare for such extremes but have some suggestions.

In fact I welcome others to make their suggestions.

I would say this though. Put your affairs in order. Both spiritual and economic. Also everyone should be making special provision financially and spiritually daily to defend the clergy and religious. Remember that if they strike the Shepard the flock will disperse.

Pray and save for the legal defense of our churches. Defend you priest and religious with the rosary. Without the priest to hear your confession and provide you jesus in the Eucharist you will not be able to stand firm.

This is a new level of hatred and persecution in America that we have never seen.

Remember to love and pray for those who persecute you and to keep your eye on the prize.

Yes, it is coming, the only thing we can do, is NEVER, NEVER deny your faith, no matter what you are threatened with. Jesus warned us these times would come, he said we would be tortured, imprisoned due to his name. We have to keep our eyes open, the enemy is very intelligent and whatever deception he has in mind, its probably going to sound very good, it will seem like the best answer to our prayers, but it will be deception, it will fool many people, even the elect, meaning its going to fool the church as well…sometimes I wonder if this isnt taking place right now, if you notice, so many things in the world seem to match the ‘signs and wonders’ Jesus said he would send to indicate the end times, but the CC still says we are not in these times.
 
I think the really tricky things for serious Christians is going to come just where people are saying it will not. Lots of commentary, including some of this forum will say that of course religious liberty is protected, and not to worry.

According to at least some in the “same gender” community locally, the next battle will be for non discrimination laws. And as Catholics who love all, we indeed are opposed to discrimination. Almost all of us would abhor the concept of denying a person employment etc., because the had this attraction. So we’ll see this change made as well.

But we’ll then have a whole host of other issues to consider. We would all agree that everyone has a right to housing, but if you rent to a same gender couple (or a cohabiting conventional couple for that matter) are you excessively cooperating with evil? I don’t know. Lots of stuff that people will have to figure out, and it won’t all go well.

That’s because we are indeed in the end times. Jesus said this to Saint Faustina.

Something to keep in mind, for most of this country’s history, we’ve been hated class. We’ve just forgotten that. The July 4 holiday is coming up, and with that in mind we may wish to remember that one of the things that the Continental Congress found intolerable was that the Parliament had let Catholics in Quebec stay Catholic. Shows you what they thought of us. As late as the Mexican War Catholics were so reviled in the Army that Catholic desertion to the Mexican side was a real problem.

Most of the time we Catholics have been in at least an intellectual Catholic Ghetto. But we were more effective as a demographic there. It looks to me like serious Catholics are headed back to an intellectual Catholic Ghetto. Just as when we were in the real Catholic Ghetto, there will be plenty of our Catholic fellows who will make any accommodation necessary to get out of it, and we have to be an example to them too.
 
I find this discussion interesting because I’m a convert. I didn’t convert because of the cafeteria Catholics, but because I wanted what the practicing, conservative Catholics had in their lives.

I really am okay being persecuted for Christ, like the martyrs, before me. In fact, we all knew this was coming, but now society is just more overt about it.

That said:

We have to know the faith and teach the faith to our kids/

Participate in mass and parish life /network with other solid Catholics. We need to know that we aren’t alone and support each other.

We have to know our rights and act on those rights. Remember Paul was a Roman Citizen and claimed the rights that he was due because of this.

Preparing and getting our things in order is also good. However, we need to consciously live out the faith every day in every way that we can. Be a solid witness for Christ - a light in the darkness that’s to come.
 
I don’t think America will persecute Catholics too much in our lifetimes. Catholics were treated a lot worse in the last century.

For the past decade I have come to the conclusion that I should fear radical Islam. Now it seems I have to alter my mind set yet again to accomodate fear of persecution from my own government.
 
It’s tough. But most of the so-called persecution here will be that of ostracizing Christians - keeping us out of public debate, etc. And, there’ll be diehards who try to destroy our parishes, etc. But I think it’s a long way from the government sanctioned persecution our brothers and sisters face in the Middle East and under dictatorships.

I have experienced persecution at the workplace because of my identity as a practicing catholic for years.

I have witnessed Christian persecution in academia for years.

Liberals and secular humanists can be quite awful and people who seek to coerce you because they know you are in a minority are quite ruthless.

Sometimes it is subtle at other times quite obvious.

Your condescension is not appreciated.

Sisters of the Poor - Obama Care Insists they provide (directly or indirectly) contraception and morning after pills to their employees. What is this called? 🤷

The Christian Bakery that refused to provide a cake for a SS Couple’s wedding - They were sued, they lost, and had to close their business. What is this called? 🤷

Catholic Charities Adoption Agency refused to give a child to a SS Couple - They lost and closed their agency. What is this called? 🤷

These are not examples of “what ifs”. These are the three cases that come to mind from the recent past 1-1/2 years.

When people cannot live their lives or work within their beliefs, this is persecution.

Not sure why she wastes her beautiful life on this place. I really don’t get it :confused:

I too have noticed her comments. They are very unkind and not very respectful.
 
I keep praying to God that I die before this happens…It seems like if I didn’t, I’d have a complete mental breakdown, from which I’d never recover until I died or Jesus came again…Then I suppose I might be euthanized rather than dying for the Faith…either way, I know they’d kill me or imprison me–doing who-knows-exactly-what-to-me and though I had expressed a potential escape plan to my mom, she basically said “no, we’re staying here.” I can’t drive. I can’t make it alone…Basically, if this happens, my life and or my freedom as an American citizen are doomed…unless its God’s Will I be spared, which can by no means be guaranteed.😦

There is precious little I can do to help anyone else either, except pray.😦

Just my belief, but I think that religious freedom will prevail. It looks like there is going to be a much sharper divide between secularist and religious, and I believe both will be powerful. Each individual will need to choose between the two, but Catholicism will be most welcoming, provide meaning and preserve Truth.
 
I have no doubt there is going to be persecution of the Catholic Church, especially after the SCOTUS ruling on same-sex marriage.

Here in Massachusetts it began almost immediately after the state supreme court ruled on same sex marriage.

Catholic Charities lost the adoption service they ran for over 75 years.

Lawsuits against dioceses for discrimination against gay couples were brought, None have succeeded, but legal cost to the Church was huge

But this was just when one state ruled that same-sex marriage was a right.

The lawyers are already lining up for the next round of lawsuits to remove priests from being licensed to marry people, when they refuse to marry gay couples.

Once this takes root, the next step will be to punish Catholics for belonging to an institution which discriminates against gay couples.

I have no doubt this is coming and will cause great suffering for the faithful who are left.

Since when was the Church not persecuted? Not only is the Church immune to such persecutions, She thrives on them!
 
Yes but Americans have grown fat and lazy and proud. How many Catholics will accept and endure persecution. Most will scurry like scared cockroaches under a dark shady spot.

that being said it will be radically holy catholic men and women who will rebuild America.

Persecution is not fun and it hurts at your body and mind.

What makes me sad are the multimillion and multibillion aires who are artists and businessmen and Catholics who will not lift a finger to defend or help christians or the Catholic Church.

May their wealth be taken from them and given to good Catholics!

Perhaps I’ll be proven wrong, and hopefully that won’t be the case, but I really doubt that we’re going to see widespread systemic Catholic persecution any time soon. Perhaps it’s where I live, but I’ve honestly noticed people being deferential to me than hostile. Maybe it’s because I make friends easily and know what I’m talking about, but most of my non-Catholic peers either don’t want to challenge me (probably because they know I won’t back down) or seem to want to bring up how they’re almost Catholic (Lutheran, Methodist, etc) or how they aren’t Catholic but their grandmother was. I imagine, like most rational human beings, they don’t want to offend me by being prejudiced against my religion.

All these doom and gloom reactions to the world are really starting to make me upset. Particularly at the adults who are supposed to be my role models. Sinners have always been the target audience of the Church, and we have been given an opportunity to actually prove the love we preach. It is imperative to remember that even non-Catholics in this world are God’s beloved children, and at heart are just people trying to do the right thing just like everyone else. Demonizing those who disagree reflects more on our own attitudes than it does theirs. If we want them to understand God’s love and mercy for them, we must show it to them through our own lives.

God proves His love for us every day in the friends and family and creation He has given us. We should in turn reflect this to those around us who cannot see it instead of despairing over how God has given up on the world.
