“Chick Publications” a fellow “Christian” is creating propaganda about Catholics. Now even if I’m not Catholic I am deeply angry about this guy. Take a look at it. He goes as low as calling the Blessed Sacrament the “cookie god”. This is the reason why my Catholic brothers and sisters are so unpopular, because all of these riteous so called “Christians” hating on them.

A Christian truly is not about hate and division in the body of Christ. That alone would disqualify Chick, based on his rabid misinformed, anti-Catholic stance. His giant leaps to conclusions based on what he thinks Catholic doctrine consists of are well documented, so well little else can meaningfully be said about them.

People who have the light of truth shouldn’t hide it. Jesus himself told us to be like the lamp shining brightly rather then putting the lamp under a basket. Chick makes these attacks and hides as a recluse, never open to any kind of intelligent evaluation of his work. People with the truth, or even with what they believe to be the truth do not act like that. They speak it and do not fear an opposing point of view that challenges it. Normally, that’s because their views stand up to a challenge; Chicks don’t last 2 seconds in the light of truth.

He’s a nut. He claims the Vatican has a computerized list of every Protestant in the world for… who knows, but it must be something nefarious because it involves the Catholic Church.

Even many of his own faith reject his views.

Real non-catholic Christians do not bother with the likes of Jack Chick and his rabid writings.

The only people I have heard of who believe what Chick writes are angry ex-catholics looking for justification of their leaving the Catholic Church. These people (who I have dubbed “chickettes”)😉 have a cult-like belief in everything he says and writes.

Jack Chick seems to appeals to the simple minded person too, with his use of comic book theology.

Yeppers.

How’s that go: “Very few people actually hate the Catholic Church, though many hate what they falsely believe the Catholic Church to be.”

Or something to that effect. (What is the real quote, anybody know?)

Very true;)

Chick publications are easy prey for the people who never really had any clue what the Church truly teaches in the first place.
Oh, you’ll hear the usual Ex-catholic rants, such as
  1. “I knew what the Church taught, I grew up in a Catholic home and I got beat for not saying the Rosary”
  2. or “I was grounded for not making a good confession”
  3. or the infamous “I spent 12 years in Catholic Schools, I know everything the Church teaches and I reject it” (clearly they know very little)
These are usually very sad people who have a bad childhood or life experience and blames it on the Catholic Church. They are searching for something and sadly they find it in Jack Chick.

We must continue to pray for them and continue to present the truth to them.

"There are not over a hundred people in the United States who hate the Catholic Church. There are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church—which is, of course, quite a different thing. These millions can hardly be blamed for hating Catholics because Catholics “adore statues;” because they “put the Blessed Mother on the same level with God;” because they “say indulgence is a permission to commit sin;” because the Pope “is a Fascist;” because the Church “is the defender of Capitalism.” If the Church taught or believed any one of these things, it should be hated, but the fact is that the Church does not believe nor teach any one of them. It follows then that the hatred of the millions is directed against error and not against truth. As a matter of fact, if we Catholics believed all of the untruths and lies which were said against the Church, we probably would hate the Church a thousand times more than they do.

If I were not a Catholic, and were looking for the true Church in the world today, I would look for the one Church which did not get along well with the world; in other words, I would look for the Church which the world hates. My reason for doing this would be, that if Christ is in any one of the churches of the world today, He must still be hated as He was when He was on earth in the flesh. If you would find Christ today, then find the Church that does not get along with the world. Look for the Church that is hated by the world, as Christ was hated by the world. Look for the Church which is accused of being behind the times, as Our Lord was accused of being ignorant and never having learned.

Look for the Church which men sneer at as socially inferior, as they sneered at Our Lord because He came from Nazareth. Look for the Church which is accused of having a devil, as Our Lord was accused of being possessed by Beelzebub, the Prince of Devils. Look for the Church which the world rejects because it claims it is infallible, as Pilate rejected Christ because he called Himself the Truth.

Look for the Church which amid the confusion of conflicting opinions, its members love as they love Christ, and respect its voice as the very voice of its Founder, and the suspicion will grow, that if the Church is unpopular with the spirit of the world, then it is unworldly, and if it is unworldly, it is other-worldly. Since it is other-worldly, it is infinitely loved and infinitely hated as was Christ Himself. … the Catholic Church is the only Church existing today which goes back to the time of Christ. History is so very clear on this point, it is curious how many miss its obviousness…"

I just wish people stop making excuse for these people. they are haters of the CC for a reason. it is not like they dont know what they are doing. they do. any one can call themselves a christian and deceive many. they are wolves dressed as sheep. Jesus did not make any excuse for the Pharisees and Saducees. neither will make any excuse for those who hate the Church. they are snakes full of venom and those who follow them are just like them.

O truth, you are present to those who seek your help, and at one and the same time you answer all, though they seek your counsel on different matters. You respond clearly, but not everyone hears clearly. All ask what they wish, but do not always hear the answer they wish. Your best servant is he who is intent not so much on hearing his petition answered, as rather on willing whatever he hears from you.

Chick’s been around for awhile. Jimmy Akin has an excellent book about it. I believe it’s available on the Catholic.com shopping page. Very enlightening.

BTW, anger is counter productive. Please pray for Mr. Chick, that God will touch his heart and open his eyes.

God bless.

Randy,
Thank you so much for that quote. I had only heard the first two sentences of it and loved them! The entire quote is even better!!!

I’m cuttin’ and pastin’ that one buddy.

Thanks again.

Mr. Chick has been off his nut from day one.

He is not a credible source of information on many topics. But, he seems to lead people into belief in Jesus in spite of that minor flaw.

I guess I would be torn about how I feel about the man if I was a believer.

Since I am not, and find everything he does absolutely comical…his medium of course.
I am amazed that anyone takes him totally seriously on any matter.

But, on the matter of desiring people to believe in Jesus, I would think believers would at least give him that. Although, I can see he may do more harm for the cause than help.

Possible, but it still leaves questions. If I made a pot of good soup and was convinced it was a better soup than any other soup out there, what is the most effective way to get my message across? Would it be to tell you what’s in my soup and let you have a taste of it, or would a better way be to fabricate stories about how Campbell’s puts diced rats in all its cans? That’s the Chick approach; the only logical choice you can make is my soup because you’ll die and burn in hell if you touch any of those other soups, especially the Big Soup company’s product.

Never do you see him paint a positive picture of his own belief without an accompanying lie about another faith. That begs the question of motivation. Being shut off as he is to honest inquiry and questions about his sources of information, one can only conclude he has some knowledge his “facts” are fiction and doesn’t care.

Thanks for posting this, as well as your supportive comments. Your sentaments of pointing out, and correcting this kind of error is much appriciated, as are your sentaments to understand each other better.

Personally I feel the best, most appropriate and probably most effective response (long term certainly) is to pray for unity, and the end of bitterness among Christian brothers. For us Catholics certainly, it’s a reminder of what St. Paul told us. Always be ready to defend the faith. We should should, not shyly, defend our beliefs when attacked like that. Of course I guess that’s what we’re doing here on this forum.

I totally agree. So now, no more anger, I pray that Jack Chick gets some knowledge on the truth b4 its too late. 🙂 And I pray for the Christians to unite. It really annoys me how ppl call themselves Protestants or Catholics or Orthodox. I pray for a day when everyone says “We are all Christian”. May Lord hear my prayer.
