My non-Catholic husband attends a Presbyterian Church where he was (finally!) baptised almost a year ago. Am praying constantly for his conversion but I know it will only happen by the Holy Spirit and only in God’s time - so for now Baptism in this church is fine by me! I witnessed it and it was valid.
He has attended this church for approx 2.5years and as we lead very busy lives we tend to travel most weekends. FYI I never miss Mass…
He has recently been identified as an adherent member but is being encouraged to become a Communicant member (both by a personalised letter in the mail and collectively in the last sermon) - as much as I can understand this would mean an added committment to being more involved with the church, bible studies, events, ministries, voting etc.
Can anyone tell me if there is pressure for this kind of membership? My husband has already told the pastor he doesn’t think he is ready to commit himself and doesn’t want to do badly by the church due to his absence most weekends.
I just got a bad feeling - like they are trying to cling on to him or something…
