I have a Presbyterian pastor friend
I was talking over the phone with him
He says he is praying for me to leave my catholic faith

He says POPE Francis catholic church is trying to allow home sexuality into church

Please help me explain to him POP francis position

Is this true ?

Homosexuals aren’t at all disallowed in the Church; they are welcome just like anyone else. Homosexuality is not a sin, but rather, homosexual acts are. Though Pope Francis is distorted wildly in the media, he has never said anything to the contrary.

Many people also seem to forget that he’s the Sovereign Pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church. He isn’t going to change Church Doctrine. I will pray for this person who is wanting you to leave your faith.

Not true, but do ask him to provide evidence of this assertion.
Then show him the Catechism, and reliable sources of the Pope’s remarks on the subject.
All Christians are called to compassion for people who suffer with SSA.

No, this is not true. It is not even remotely true. It is the delusional wish of people who do not understand the Church, or who want to denounce her.

Ask him to provide evidence from the Pope. Not from CNN, or ABC, or Huffpo, or any of those news sources; but from the Pope’s words, which are readily available on the Vatican website.

Sadly, there’s a good chance he won’t bother trying to confirm it, or, when he can’t, he’ll do some mental gymnastics about how the Church is trying to cover it up or some nonsense like that. People who buy into this sort of thing are rarely persuaded by minor inconveniences like the facts.

Someone who said they prayed for me to leave the Church would not be counted as a friend in my book. Friends are supportive of my faith, they don’t try to destroy it.

And in this case, your “friend” is trying to destroy your faith with lies.

He made the assertion. Tell him to prove it.

That’s what I was going to point out. Right now there is a division occurring in the Presbyterian church, the point of contention being the acceptance of homosexual behavior.

The Roman Catholic Church never has tolerated homosexual behavior, and never will be able to. We cannot change doctrine on the winds of opinion.

I promised him that if homosexuality is accepted in catholic church I will leave and take my family away too. we will all leave the catholic faith.

Little by little this pope is making me so confused about every thing.

Homosexuality has always been accepted in the Catholic Church. Homosexual actions have not.

Though he is widely misquoted by popular media, a check of websites such as catholic news.com or catholicnewsagency.com will provide you with the full story. He is the Pope; he is going to uphold Church teaching.

Homosexuality is, yes, “accepted” in the catholic church.
The catechism says that those who are homosexual “**must be **accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided.”

.
No homosexuality is NOT accepted in the Catholic Church however the Church is one of sinners and sinners are part of the Church. The sin is not accepted but the person is. People who are practicing homosexuals are called to repentance just the same as thieves, adulteries, people who bare false witness etc.
What the Catechism says is
Chastity and homosexuality

2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,141 tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered."142 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.
We must respect the person. What is not respected is the sin. The sin as stated above is the act which is intrinsically disordered.

I mean homosexuals who are practicing it should not be allowed to take communion
they should be reminded and there is no compromise . That is all

Why? What is your concern? Davis stood up for her beliefs but she should have resigned if she felt she could not do the job.
