Isn’t it great that someone, somewhere said we should be of the same one, holy Catholic and Aposolic Church? 🙂
yeah who was that guy? I think it started with a J and ended with a C? Something about denying ourselves and picking up our cross to follow Him?

Is the Evangelical PC the one that the late Dr Kennedy was in, they were far right polically. Or is your church one that only sings psalms?

I must admit I know little of other Presbyterian chruches than the PCUSA. I knew of Dr Kennedy from seeing him on TV.
I looked up Dr K. He was PCA. The OPC, I think, is the one that only sings psalms and does not use instruments. I’ve never been to an OPC church. PCA is more conservative than EPC.

as my old pastor said, “When it comes to theology, Protestants couldn’t agree how far to spit!”
I find this completely repugnant.

However there are several Presbyterian denominations (as my old pastor said, “When it comes to theology, Protestants couldn’t agree how far to spit!”), particularly in the USA, and I don’t know if they all follow the same pattern.
To be fair, how far to spit is a matter of prudence, not doctrine 😉

Unfortunately it’s correct. There are disagreements on the day of worship (7th Day Adventists), women wearing hats in church (some Brethren); Predestination or not (Calvinism vs. Armenian Theology), church organisation, all manner of millenialial beliefs, “The Rapture”, speaking in tongues condemned by some and practised by others, liberals versus conservatives, a real Christ versus a mythical Christ.

Mind you we Catholics have our bun fights as well, but the Church still holds together. We don’t splinter and divide into thousands of competing sects, such that there are several Baptist and Presbyterian denominations in the USA alone.

And the pastor who said it was Protestant, not Catholic.

I think psalm singing with no hymns comes from Calvin’s “regulatory worship” which has been mostly abadoned by most Presbyterians.

I was raised in the accapela “churches of Christ” which takes regulative worship to extremes. They do nothing in worship unless it is ordered to be done in the bible.

They think the bible is God, and “unauthorised” by God means they don’t have permission from the bible, their “God”.

The Cambpellite sect damaged me to a great degree.
