Washington, DC – During an interview with Fox News, President Barack Obama again condemned the Stupak amendment added to the House health care bill to stop abortion funding. Meanwhile, the Obama administration says the president supports the new Senate health care bill that contains massive abortion subsidies.

While I am staunchly pro-life, I am ambivalent to the Stupak amendment. First, if it stays in the Senate version, then liberal senators will not vote for it. That’s fine; I do not want ANY government socialist-style healthcare.

Second, if they remove the Stupak amendment, they many moderates and conservatives will not vote for it. That’s fine; I do not want ANY government socialist-style healthcare.

Third, the Stupak amendment is not completely pro-life, since it has an allowance provision for rape/incest.

So let the two sides tear each other apart over this thing. And next time, keep out of my family’s healthcare decisions altogether!

The USCCB has said that the bill as currently proposed (with abortion funding) is entirely unacceptable.

“Choice” was part of his party’s platform during the election. Obama and the Democrat party have been abortion supporters for decades. Of course he opposes the Stupak Amendment, as weak as it is, and as little as it will change the pro-abortion nature of the bill the Democrats eventually agree on.

Valid point. Every day spent arguing Healthcare is a day spent getting closer to Nov. 2010 and a reining in of Pelosi rule.
