President Trump in 2 Thessalonians?

Reading Second Thessalonians 3:3-12, ( correction: 2 Thess. 2:3-12) I’m struck by how much seems to be related to him, and verses 11-12 seem to relate to his followers, who believe his lies and forgive his evil and corruption.

I know people have been seeing signs of the end times and parousia during their lifetimes for 2000 years, so I’m probably doing the same thing, but what do others here think?

I know there’s a lot of pro-Trump people here due to his bigotry and supposed pro-life beliefs, but if you look past that to someone who wants to spend another trillion on nuclear weapons, when we already have enough to destroy the world, ignores and ridicules climate change and environmental concerns, which may be a bigger threat than nukes, it makes me think.

Well, when the alternative party not only wants to keep abortion, but expand it and make the rest of us pay for it, it’s understandable why many here would be supportive of Trump.

but if you look past that to someone who wants to spend another trillion on nuclear weapons, when we already have enough to destroy the world, ignores and ridicules climate change and environmental concerns, which may be a bigger threat than nukes, it makes me think.

Look, President Trump isn’t exactly my cup of tea and there’s a lot of things I disagree with him on politically. I didn’t vote for him in the last election and I don’t plan to vote for him this time around either. But geez, give me a break.

Second Thessalonians 3, 11-12:
“11 We hear that some are conducting themselves among you in a disorderly way, by not keeping busy but minding the business of others. 12 Such people we instruct and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to work quietly and to eat their own food.”

It might be helpful at this point to post the actual verses. I pulled these from the RSV:

3 But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from evil.4 And we have confidence in the Lord about you, that you are doing and will do the things which we command. 5 May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ. 6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is living in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us. 7 For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us; we were not idle when we were with you, 8 we did not eat any one’s bread without paying, but with toil and labor we worked night and day, that we might not burden any of you. 9 It was not because we have not that right, but to give you in our conduct an example to imitate. 10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this command: If any one will not work, let him not eat. 11 For we hear that some of you are living in idleness, mere busybodies, not doing any work. 12 Now such persons we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work in quietness and to earn their own living.

I’m not seeing anything here that points to President Trump, or is suggestive of him in any way. I do think it’s entirely possible — or maybe not — that God has raised him up as an imperfect (!) vessel to keep our country from falling even deeper into the abyss than it already is, if just for a time. I have in mind primarily the appointment of Supreme Court justices and conservative federal judges, but he also gives encouragement to tradition-minded Americans in many other ways (addressing the March for Life, his proclamation on Ash Wednesday, etc.).
