Prevention of Papal error?

I read on another message board somewhere that apparently there have been Popes that died on the way to change a key element in the Church’s teaching. Is this true? Specific examples were not listed there, but I was wondering if anyone here might know any.

I’ve heard this also, but have never seen specific examples cited.

Some say the hand of God did this (so God is an assasian), or others say human agents (usually Jesuits, of course) did the dirty deed. But nobody can cite a particular Pope, so the story lacks any credibility.
