Price for having a medal blessed?

Yes, I realize this has probably been done to death, but I was at the Vatican a week ago, and managed to pick up a St.'s Peter and Paul medal, a Virgin of Carmel Medal, a St. Christopher Medal, and a crucifix, as well as a couple of rosaries.

I still need to get them blessed, and I realize that it is customary to give the priest a small donation. I was wondering if I could have a suggestion for a good price for having these things blessed.

You don’t have to give a donation to get something blessed. It takes all but 10 seconds. Our priests do it all the time and no one ever gives them anything. Usually they stop them after mass or stop by the Parish Office and the priest on duty does it.
 
Really? funny, I’d heard otherwise. But then I didn’t hear all of the conversation, maybe they were talking about something else. Thanks!
 
If you ask your priest to go out of his way to bless something, such as to come over and bless your house, then it is polite to offer him lunch or dinner.
 
My experience tallies with the earlier posters - if it is something that requires the priest to expend some time or go out of their way, such as say a Mass for your intentions, perform a house blessing or what have you, then you might give him some money, a present, or (more usual if they visit your house) a good feed afterwards.

Otherwise priests are happy to bless small items such as rosaries or medals with no expectation of a stipend.
 
Don’t misunderstand me, writer. I did not mean that I was going to ‘buy’ the blessing (as it were. I meant that I had heard that, after the priest blesses objects, it is customary to give a small donation to the parish, not as a price for the blessing, but simply as thanks. Blessings should not be bought, and it would certainly be a grave sin for a priest to demand payment for blessing something (or for a lay person to buy it).
 
Oh, I understood you perfectly, no worries. You certainly may give a donation to the parish, the priest’s particular community or ministry, or even the priest personally if you wish. But this is not expected for a simple blessing of a personal religious article such as a medal.

Blessing are freely given.
 
I have had medals and statues blessed and have never given a cent…You could send Fr a nice card to thank him if you wish, and if you would like to do something nice for him invite him over for dinner, or take him out to eat…I think they all enjoy things like this
