Pride and Prejudice....and Zombies?!

I’m glad Miss Austen is not around to her story turn into this hot mess. :ouch:
 
It’s based on a book! I it few years ago, haha. They also have Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, Android Karenina, and The Meowmorphosis. Possibly others I can’t think of right now either. I believe the P&P&Z has a sequel or two also, if I’m remembering correctly.

I looked at it as a fun light-hearted fan fiction type story, entertaining for someone familiar with the inspiration sources. 🤷
 
As much as I like Jane Austen movies, I think I’ll skip this one.

I’m not actually angry about it. I just never thought I would see Elizabeth and Darcy chopping of zombie heads.

Seth Grahame Smith, the author of P,P&Z is also responsible for the books Unholy Night, and Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter.
 
My wife saw it as part of a pre-screening preview showing. She said it was entertaining, even if silly. She is fond of Lily James in her roles in Downton Abbey and the live action Cinderella (even if the latter movie isn’t a big favorite). It an odd twist to see her period character who isn’t totally different from those other roles, thrown into a zombie flick.

Oooh, thanks for the info! Not familiar with Unholy Night, but I remember when the movie of Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter came out.

Agreed! It was definitely a bit of shock factor and disbelief that caused me to pick it up in the store.

Unholy Night applies the genre to the Magi’s journey to Bethlehem.
 
I picked up a copy of Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter at a used bookstore. It’s on my To-Read pile. 😃 I don’t know if I’ll read more than just the one (I like vampire stories) but if it’s well told, I might check out some of the others. :coffeeread: Well-done genre mashups can be fun, especially if you’re a geek! 😉
 
I read the book when it came out. Love Austen, very amused by the idea of Elizabeth and Darcy occasionally having their timeless romance interuupted by adventures of.the zombie-fighting kind.

It is, however, a truth universally acknowledged that mashups of classic novels do not translate well to the big screen. So alas I will give Lizzy and Darcy a miss on this occasion.
