I’m not sure if I have the right forum, so I apologize in advance if it’s not.

One of the local churches here has a ministry for homosexuals called “Pride Ministry.” The name puts me off right away, since activitists fighting for “gay rights” use the name of “pride.” The ministry in Manhattan is called Courage, which I think is much more appropriate.

Be that as it may, this Church is going to be showing a film called “For the Bible Tells Me So”. I looked it up, the web site is:

forthebibletellsmeso.org/index2.htm

This seems to be a very sympathetic look at the homosexual lifestyle and anyone who condemns the homosexual lifestyle is a bad guy.

Does anyone know anything about this film? Should the bishop be told about this? If you watch the trailer, you will see one person call the Episcopalian gay bishop who was ordained a “saint.” Huh??? Why in the world would a Catholic church be showing this?

I’d appreciate anyone’s thoughts. Thanks.

This looks like bad news. I would be very concerned. Part of the message of “anti-hate” looks good. However, it appears that they are also going to promote same-sex marriage and therefore sexual relations.

“Pride” is a nationally organized group whose views on homosexuality run contrary to the Catholic Church.

Its counterpart within the Church is Courage International whose views and actions follow Catholic Christian teachings.

There is no such thing as “the homosexual lifestyle” any more than there is a “heterosexual lifestyle.”

Both phrases make the totally false assumption that all homosexuals or heterosexuals live the same way.

Being heterosexual means being attracted to persons of the opposite sex. A heterosexual lifestyle means one in which heterosexual sexual relations are an option. They may take place outside of or only within a committed relationship. The other option is being celibate.

Seems self-explanatory to me.🤷

Apart from moral issues, couples of either orientation sometimes act obnoxiously in public by indiscrete displays of affection that make onlookers uncomfortable.

I think the a ministry such as you describe is an insult to the church.

The message of this film is both inherently anti-Catholic and inherently anti-human.

This should be reported to the Bishop at once.

I would also add that I think this belongs on the Moral Theology thread. But then you have the pseudo-Catholics there say that there is nothing wrong sexually deviant behavior.

A gay-rights group rented our chuch’s basement when I was in college. The priests and staff of the parish knew exactly what this group and this meeting were about. The bishop was contacted, but he didn’t do anything about it in time. Several brave and faithful parishoners sat in the back row of the meeting and prayed their rosaries out loud. The police were called, and these people were dragged out of their Catholic church while praying the rosary.

Unfortunately, at the time (16 years ago) I was not shocked by how completely wrong all this was. Needless to say, that parish was forbidden to rent out their spaces to non-Catholic groups after that, and eventually the order of priests who ran the parish were sent packing and the diocese took over. What a blessing and a gift to the college students who attend that parish today!

So, please politely bring this event to the attention of the local bishop. This is no small thing. I’ll pray, and I encourage you to pray (and maybe fast as well) for conversion of hearts.
