Someone I know - always asks for honest advice, then get upset when you tell her the truth or your honest opinion. She never takes heed to honest advice. Not only this, she takes thing so personally, it is difficult to have a conversation with her. Once you tell her something she does not like, she will stop talking to you sometimes even for days or stop associating with you. If you correct about anything, she automatically assumes you are taking the high horse/moral horse. From what it sounds like, she does not like hearing the truth or people’s honest opinions. She seems to project her insecurities on other people. Next thing I know, she is having a suicidal attempt. It is difficult to take her seriously, when she does these things all the time. Apart from these events, she is good person. She does not always think rationally and believes everything is a personal attack. What to do?

Don’t give her advice. Tell her that her problems are above your pay grade & she should see a doctor, counsellor, or whatever is appropriate. Then change the subject.

That last is very important, or you’ll be talking about her problems forever!

Have you dealt with someone similar to her? And is it pride?
It’s difficult for a lay person to discern if behaviors indicate a mental illness or a character flaw. As the PP said, asking if it is pride is above your pay grade.

I do not know how seriously to take her suicide attempts - they are over relatively minor things. Should I not tell her the truth about herself? I cannot tell her anything without a threat from her of suicide. She is using guilt to control me.

Read my earlier post - no advice, except to see a doctor. And you aren’t one.

If she’s threatening suicide, call a suicide hotline.
