The pastor of my parish recently attend a marriage between two men. he sat in the front row and wore his collar?*
And how do YOU know this, windsor?
And how do YOU know this, windsor?
You are very young. I wonder if you will feel the same in 10 years. Even 5.
This makes me happy
He is probably gay himself. That would be my guess. “Others” know already. The pastor of my parish recently attend a marriage between two men. he sat in the front row and wore his collar?
Is there anything wrong with this…Should it be brought to others attention??
Maybe, studies have shown that there are quite a few gays in the priesthood. He is probably gay himself. That would be my guess. “Others” know already.
This is way out of line. This kind of hearsay and speculation could ruin a priest’s career. I think that all of you who don’t have all the facts need to shut your mouths and worry about the 2x4 in your own eyes. This path is conducive to nothing but ruin.He is probably gay himself. What is out of line? There are many gay priests. There are many gay nuns as well. It can’t ruin a career because priest know it before going in. Don’t kid yourself. This is way out of line. Your not gonna get anywhere with him, It`s possible he approves & maybe he is gay himselfI think he showed remarkably poor judgment in doing so. His presence would seem to some an approval and his wearing clericals might even signal to the uninformed, approval by the Church. If he was related or close to one of the men, he might have considered skipping the wedding and reception to avoid scandal and simply expressing his hope for God’s hand in their lives, privately.
As for reporting it, I think I would first speak to him one on one and very gently try to help him understand your concerns.
Paul
The really sad thing about this post is that it is probably correct. I am sure that Methodi would agree with my assesment of his (her?) post.Your not gonna get anywhere with him, It`s possible he approves & maybe he is gay himself
You know the priest in question? How can you possibly be so sure of his situation? What about Matthew 18:15-15 (Douay-Rheims):Your not gonna get anywhere with him, It`s possible he approves & maybe he is gay himself
In no way am I condemning him, But we know there are a lot of gay priests, some of them are Blatant others are very discreet. I dont care what they are as Long as they can do the Transubstantiation. The Church is made up of all types of people, and none of them are perfect, NONE!You know the priest in question? How can you possibly be so sure of his situation? What about Matthew 18:15-15 (Douay-Rheims):
*15 But if thy brother shall offend against thee, go, and rebuke him between thee and him alone. If he shall hear thee, thou shalt gain thy brother.
16 And if he will not hear thee, take with thee one or two more: that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may stand. 17 And if he will not hear them: tell the church. And if he will not hear the church, let him be to thee as the heathen and publican.*
I am amazed how quickly this mob of posters has convicted and hung a priest of Christ’s Church. Doesn’t he at least get the chance to defend himself?

Do you really have to ask:shrug:The pastor of my parish recently attend a marriage between two men. he sat in the front row and wore his collar?
Is there anything wrong with this…Should it be brought to others attention??
Yes! Without actually witnessing it yourself, it’s nothing more than hearsay. Spreading rumor is just as scandalous.Do you really have to ask:shrug:
Where the government’s policy is de facto tolerance and there is no explicit legal recognition of homosexual unions, it is necessary to distinguish carefully the various aspects of the problem. Moral conscience requires that, in every occasion, Christians give witness to the whole moral truth, which is contradicted both by approval of homosexual acts and unjust discrimination against homosexual persons. Therefore, discreet and prudent actions can be effective; these might involve: unmasking the way in which such tolerance might be exploited or used in the service of ideology; stating clearly the immoral nature of these unions; reminding the government of the need to contain the phenomenon within certain limits so as to safeguard public morality and, above all, to avoid exposing young people to erroneous ideas about sexuality and marriage that would deprive them of their necessary defences and contribute to the spread of the phenomenon. Those who would move from tolerance to the legitimization of specific rights for cohabiting homosexual persons need to be reminded that the approval or legalization of evil is something far different from the toleration of evil.
…8. Society owes its continued survival to the family, founded on marriage. The inevitable consequence of legal recognition of homosexual unions would be the redefinition of marriage, which would become, in its legal status, an institution devoid of essential reference to factors linked to heterosexuality; for example, procreation and raising children. If, from the legal standpoint, marriage between a man and a woman were to be considered just one possible form of marriage, the concept of marriage would undergo a radical transformation, with grave detriment to the common good. By putting homosexual unions on a legal plane analogous to that of marriage and the family, the State acts arbitrarily and in contradiction with its duties.
The principles of respect and non-discrimination cannot be invoked to support legal recognition of homosexual unions. Differentiating between persons or refusing social recognition or benefits is unacceptable only when it is contrary to justice. (16 ) The denial of the social and legal status of marriage to forms of cohabitation that are not and cannot be marital is not opposed to justice; on the contrary, justice requires it.
You can download the entire document at:Nor can the principle of the proper autonomy of the individual be reasonably invoked. It is one thing to maintain that individual citizens may freely engage in those activities that interest them and that this falls within the common civil right to freedom; it is something quite different to hold that activities which do not represent a significant or positive contribution to the development of the human person in society can receive specific and categorical legal recognition by the State. Not even in a remote analogous sense do homosexual unions fulfil the purpose for which marriage and family deserve specific categorical recognition. On the contrary, there are good reasons for holding that such unions are harmful to the proper development of human society, especially if their impact on society were to increase.
we are all speculating here, everyone gossips, they love it! Priests after all do have private lives you know, & they can get into things they shouldnt just like us. I am in no way condemning, just saying like it isLet me say that I think there are a lot of people WAY out of line on this thread. Even IF this priest was causing scandal, it is nothing compared to the gossip and judgemental attitudes people are expressing here. There is no discussion on the appropriateness of a priest attending a homosexual union, and lots of totally unbased accusations of homosexuality in the clergy, and personal slander of this priest. I dearly hope that I am not the only one that finds this disturbing. No one knows why he was there and taking this gossip So far as to call him gay is totally out of line.
