Priest breaks away from Catholic Church

A Priest from the diocese of Pittsburgh, Pa. left the Catholic Church to form his own Church called “Christ Ecumenical Catholic Church” My question is: If someone from their parish left to join his Church, would they be in moratl sin, in danger of hell because they left the true Church? What haapens to the priest? Is his soul in danger of hell?

Only God knows the hearts and minds of the Priest and those who followed him but they may be in very serious danger. Paragraph 14 of Lumen Gentium states: “Whosoever, therefore, knowing that the Catholic Church was made necessary by Christ, would refuse to enter or to remain in it, could not be saved.”
