There’s a priest at a parish close to where l live, actually it’s a monastery as well. I met him in the past, a few times to discuss family issues, once for some spiritual advise, etc.

the Last time I met him was more than a month ago. However there are two new situations I would like his advise for, so I sent him an email asking to meet since yesterday evening and it’s now lunchtime the next day and he didnt reply.

He normally replies very fast, I’m a bit worried, I know it might be stupid, but I always worry for minor stuff.

Please advise,
Thanks,
Lucien

Be patient. His schedule is set by the monastary and he may not have continual access to email (and even if he does, he very likely doesn’t check it constantly).

I would wait at least a full day before asking again. (you sent email day 1 in the evening, wait all through day 2 and until day 3 morning, before contacting again).

I have to agree with the previous responses. I think it best just to wait. I am sure he has a busy schedule. Offer it up the Lord and consider it a growing experience in patience, lol.

This.

I usually have to wait days, or sometimes even weeks, before I get an email response for a meeting setup with my priest. I even told him once, thank you for the lessons in patience. 😛 In trying to set up a meeting to discuss parish news recently, I told this to someone who was assisting me with my project: “I’ve emailed Father twice now, so I figure another 2-3 emails, and I should be able to set up a meeting in about 3 weeks or so.” And she smiled with that knowledge of understanding.

In the priest’s defense, he did email me the next day to set up a time. In three weeks. So at least I got that part right.

In the monastery I’m affiliated with, Internet access is strictly controlled, and monks do not have continual access, only timed supervised access in a common area.

Monks are actually very busy, scrambling to get things done between bells (signaling the different Offices throughout the day).

So yes sometimes it takes a couple of days before e-mails get answered. I regularly correspond with several monks here and at an abbey in France, and it’s rare that I get same-day responses unless I get lucky and send my e-mail just before the monk is sitting down to check his e-mail.

Have you been praying for patience lately? If you have, consider your prayers answered!

Don,t worry, priest have many things to do durning the day, some time I used to go to the Rectory, and what to talk to my Paster, but the person would say, he,s not here, but might be back later, so I would what tell the next day. I have at times, try writting a E-Mail, but I never got a reply,so now , I call the Rectory and ask the person is father in,for I need to talk to Him. Many time , I hit the right time and he tells me, when to come over, and tell him what bothering us. :bible1:

My priest is in the holy land for 2 weeks. Sometimes they go on assignments, vacations, etc. And sometimes they are praying, yes for days. So give him some time. Besides it’s easter season, he may be booked solid with actives and commitments and hasn’t looked at his email.

Don’t worry about it. I’ve had my emails seemingly ignored by the clergy I often chat with via email. And I have a priest who replies to my emails minutes after I send it out. It all depends on their situation. You never know.
