Hmmm… Interesting. I wouldn’t have thought this would be allowed, but there is nothing in Canon Law (as far as I can tell) that prohibits it.Yes. My daughter was baptized by her Godfather.
I believe in the previous Code of Canon Law (1917), it specifically said that priests could not serve as godparents, but the current Code of Canon Law (1983) left out that stipulation.
I have some friends who had a priest as the godfather of one of their kids. But they had a different priest do the Baptism.

I’m not sure, but whenever I’ve been at a baptism where the Godfather is a priest, another priest has always done the baptism.May a priest who is asked to be the Godfather baptize the child?
