The Rev. James J. McDevitt, 64, who most recently served as pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Margaretville, was arrested last year and accused of sexually abusing six Delaware County males ranging in age from 11 to 19.
He wasn’t ordained as a priest until 13 years ago, which would have made him about 51 years old. Isn’t it unusual for someone to become a priest so late in life?
As it is, his over-the- knee bare buttocks spanking of the youth seems a clear abuse of his position of authority.
