This is the second Sunday in which we have a guest Priest offering Mass. Now usually I go up during communion with my wife (who is Catholic - I am not) to get a blessing. Usually, I go up with my arms folded in front of me and the priest gives me some sort of blessing. This guest Priest, for the second Sunday in a row, won’t do that. He just stares at me. Last time he said, “please move on”. This time he just stared at me until i moved on. I made sure my wife was watching because last time we thought that we must have missed something. After witnessing the interaction she agreed that the priest must not offer a blessing as I was very obvious with arms crossed, ect. He does however offer a blessing for children who approach in a similar fasion. I’ve seen it.

What gives?

There is a moratorium on this topic.

What gives is that he’s following the rules. Unfortunately this is not a topic we can discuss so please check the “Sticky” on Blessings during communion.

Sorry about the breach of protocol - I wasn’t aware. I’m a bit surprised, but hey, when in Rome…it must be a point of contention.

Anyway, I have now read the Catholic Church’s “official” position on the subject.

Thanks.

First, I like your name because it’s a palindrome.
Second, why not join an RCIA group and become Catholic? Seems like the obvious plan to me. 😃
