Priest Not Vested Properly at Mass?

That’s awesome. In that case I would presume that you are considering the pains and hardships of this priest’s life, many of which you probably don’t know anything about because I doubt he talks about them just like you would not talk about your own sacrifices, and consider how hard he works to bring the Eucharist, the Sacraments, and Christ’s message, and other spiritual works of mercy, to an often ungrateful and critical congregation.

Go back and read what I wrote about the possibility of him having health issues.

“Tell your priest to tighten it up” is what you wrote. (In two separate posts.)

Not seeing much regard for his possible “health issues” in that statement.

Did he set the Eucharist on the altar and have everyone help themselves? No? Then he’s fine.

I second what others have stated.
  1. It could be that it’s too hot for him and he can’t wear the proper vestments without becoming ill.
  2. Walking fast does not equal good knees. I have bad knees. I cannot kneel without pain but I can walk just as fast as anyone else.
 
I mean, I get it. Especially for new Catholics it can be disconcerting when things don’t go the way we think they should but we need some perspective! Priests are human. They will make mistakes but you know what? It’s okay (most of the time!).
 
It could be more than likely he talked to the bishop about the heat. As a priest he knows that he needed dispensation, I’m sure, but if you see it happening again you could kindly ask him about it.
 
To be fair, she is not a moderator. I wouldn’t leave the forum just because of her. But attempt speaking to an actual moderator.
 
My thoughts on the matter.

The fact that there are rules governing what a priest wears means they are meant to be followed. Rules aren’t made to be broken. Unless of course there is a dispensation or an extreme reason like the priest is literally unable to perform the ceremony with or without X.

Being slightly (or more than slightly) uncomfortable doesn’t count as an extreme reason.

But I would guess out of charity that the OP’s priest had a dispensation or an extreme reason to disregard the Church’s rule on the matter.

I am as well. It is very clear that he has serious back pain. He is often grimacing and limping. He tries to smile through it all, but he is clearly in pain.

I held my breath watching him lay prostrate and struggle to get back up again at Pentecost.
 
We have this. 🙂 I’ve had to walk out of mass because it got so hot I got sick but we keep the priest cool! Haha. It’s good.
 
I believe to formally confect any sacrament (emergency baptism and confession in case of the dying are exceptions) the minimum the priest must wear is the stole. That is his symbol of priestly authority. Many priests in battlefield conditions in wartime wore only the stole to celebrate mass in “perilous” situations. The big green, white, gold, red, and purple vestments make it a whole lot easier for someone not attending mass, to see their target in their rifle scope!

And we have no idea if he has medical conditions do we? Or if his Bishop has informed his decision.

The desert fathers went naked for the most, in the early Church. As did St Francis of Assisi at times.

You in the Middle East for one year compared with a Priest in office for life, bears no comparison.
