"…A priest who had been leading a Catholic parish in Humphrey, Neb., has left active ministry, critical of what he sees as liberal movement among the U.S. bishops.

Among other issues, the letter raised concerns about some appointments by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops to the National Review Board, according to a priest who read the letter.
In some Catholic circles, the bishops have been widely criticized for appointing such members as Leon Panetta, considered a supporter of abortion rights …The review board is the lay watchdog panel the bishops created in the wake of the sex abuse scandal. …

I think there must be more to it than that. I’m not a conspiracy theorist here, but using the National Review Board as an excuse is goofy, most of them have stated that they plan to resign at the end of their terms.

Shoot, if every priest who disagreed with a bishop left the ministry, we only HAVE bishops.

Well the article did say “among other issues” but so many priests are outraged by this sex abuse scandal and feel that the bishops really still “don’t get it” and if they are also pro-life activists, they have been very disheartened by McCarrick & Co’s handling of the communion vs. politician meeting. All in all, maybe it was just the last straw in a heavy bale.
:ehh:

You don’t throw out the baby with the bath water. If Martin Luther had continued to object within the church structure, there would have been reform and still one united church.

Except for Henry VIII… 🙂
