Remember that in the beginning of the Mass there is a whole Confession. Lord, have Mercy, Christ Have mercy! And the priest says: “May the lord forgive your sins!” people repeat it mechanically without realizaing what they are doing. It is a whole general confession…

Mortal sins are not forgiven at that time in Mass.

General Absolution is only permitted in life and death situations (on a battlefield, in an airplane that is crashing, etc.)

Exactly correct. I would add that in a life or death situation such as those you have listed, one must also have the intent of going to confession once the opportunity presents itself assuming he or she lives through whatever trial they are currently in.

Since the second statement is so egregiously incorrect, anyone who is Catholic and knows the Catechism as well as you have claimed would never consider making it.
