I feel the calling to the priesthood in my spirit but I have lots of dreams of kissing women hahaha Are these dreams manifesting my desire for eros (sexual love) or are they a desire to be one with the Bride of Christ (The Church)

I’m not into dream interpretation, but I would say your dreams are perfectly normal. 😃

Having said that, you as a Maronite can find a wife and then become a priest.

You’ve got a very unusual moniker. What’s the deal with that? Is that supposed to be ironic?

Pimpsta is a nickname, I want to change it but cant…not my fault

You want to change it on here? Or you want to change the nickname your friends call you? You can change your name on here. There is very prolific poster on here who changed his name, I am certain.

Priests are not married to the Church so I would look elsewhere if you really want to look into dream interpretation.

Christ is the bridegroom and calls the Church his bride. When a man becomes a priest he enters into the person hood of Christ and likewise has every right to call the Church *his *bride…So yes, priests do ‘marry’ the Church.

Pimpsta: As to the dreams, kissing is small stuff and you’re not even doing it on purpose. I wouldn’t worry about it. It could be very true that your view of the Church as bride is influencing your dreams, it’s your brain and you’re the one who is most likely to figure it out.

Actually no. Religious by virtue of their vow of chastity enter into a covenant with God and the Church than is anallogous to a marriage. A priest does not enter into the same kind of covenant with the Church. Marriage is a covenant.

If a priest were married to the Church we would be unable to have married deacons and priests, because there would be a conflict there. You can’t have two covenants that are mutually exclusive. That’s why religious cannot be married, but deacons and priests can be. Men in Holy Orders are not married to the Church.

It is true that the Church is the bride of Christ. But the priest is not Christ. He is an “alter Christus”. It’s not the same thing. He ministers in Christ’s place, but he does not take Christ’s place in his (Christ’s) relationship with the Church. He minister’s to Christ’s bride. That’s why a deacon, priest and bishop is called a minister. He is a servant of the Bride, not the groom. Christ is not a minister. Christ is the bridegroom. There is the difference.

I was about to ask the same thing . . . it’s odd for someone wanting to be a priest to have the word “pimp” in his CAF handle.

You can register again under another user name.

I’ll tell you what I tell my novices. If you have sexual dreams, thank God for them. If you have sexual activity while awake, thank yourself for messing up your life.

Pimpsta. Hallelujah! Thank God for the gift of sexuality and for women. Keep close to God in prayer and be sure to regularly participate in, and receive the grace available to you through the sacraments of Holy Eucharist and Reconciliation.

I wouldn’t think the dreams are anything much to worry about. I often have bizarre dreams in which I am in all sorts of comprimising situations which, since I am trying to lead a more chaste lifestyle now, are disconcerting but I know in my heart I’d never act on them. If you see them as subconcious nonsense then I’m sure you’ll be fine.

Blessed Zossima of Siberia had similar dreams when discerning (as we should say today) a monastic vocation.

His spiritual father told him that if the woman he dreams about is especially modest and beautiful, this is a sign of a call to monasticism.

I’m not saying you’re called to be a monk, but I am saying this kind of dream is not unheard of among those praying about a vocaiton.

From a psychological pespective, this kind of dream is very normal for chaste men. The human psyche takes care of its sexual needs through dreams, just as it resolves other life issues through dreams. Of course, God has often spoken through dreams too.

I believe that dreams often resolve conflicts, respond to needs, and reveal what God has said to us in the depths of the soul and we could not hear during our waking hours because of the noice in the world.

lol change your moniker man, it’s very disrespectful toward women.

As to the dreams, i’d say they’re perfectly normal for anyone. It’s very normal for a guy to have dreams about females, it’s human nature. You should be glad yours are so tame!

WOW, could you please direct me to the real quote? I dream of a gorgeous woman, the whole time. Shes marriage material. My diamond girl. But I have a calling to be a monastic priest in the order of St. Francis of Assisi… So in other words, my calling is as beautiful as this woman? :)
