Sorry don’t laugh but its true as I saw that with my very own eyes at a procession I started to question my knowledge of the priest’s vestments.

That’s rather odd.

The 2 garments are really 2 variations on the same garment. Wearing both an alb and a surplice is like wearing both a bowtie and a Windsor-knot tie.

Since it was a procession, might he have been wearing a white cassock instead of an alb? That would make sense.

I’m serious he didn’t wear a white cassock it was an alb, a surplice then a violet stole. But I asked him about it and he said “I might’ve forgot to remove my alb, and only remembered halfway the procession.” Then he started laughing “I might’ve looked ridiculous don’t you think?” As we laughed he still explained to me that indeed the surplice originated from the alb.

That happens.

I had several such moments of “I forgot” this Holy Week.

Our deacon has forgotten to include the “Alleluja” during the sending words twice now since Easter. There must be more than one priest who has forgotten to give the deacon Holy Communion during the Easter days as well.
