I fell in love with the beauty and truth of the Catholic faith as I heard about the grace of God, the Holy Eucharist, and devotion of the faithful to the Virgin Mary and to the saints…I thought to myself: This is where I’m supposed to be.”

“My mother gave me physical birth in this world; soon I will have the joy of offering her the gift of spiritual re-birth in Christ.”

That’s a neat story.
I think I read somewhere that the Zoroatrianists claim to be the religion of the three Wise Men/Maji/Astrologers because they study the stars as part of their worship?

Zoroastrianism is an ancient faith that is the first recorded to believe in One God, way before Judaism. I studied Hebrew Scriptures at graduate level with a Rabbi. The Rabbi said before the Jewish people were exiled to Babylon (modern day Iraq) the Jewish people believed in Jehovah but did not describe Jehovah as the only God but the most powerful of many and the protector of the Jewish nation. Babylon was a very sophisticated city with the latest technology, civilization and a varied and sophisticated population with many Zoroastrians. While away from Judea the Jewish people changed their culture, their clothes and habits and started to write down their beliefs and details such as how to worship correctly in the temple for fear they would not return or forget how to fulfill the requirements of the law.

When they returned a couple of generations later they were shocked at the country yokels that had never left Judea and did not accept they were the same tribal people, they called them Samaritans. When they returned they no longer described Jehovah as a tribal God, instead He became the One and Only and he was referred to differently as the Lord. The Rabbi said you can tell which stories are from before the Babylonian exile because God is called Jehovah and He is described as jealous and fighting other God’s in a pluralistic understanding of every tribe with their own God.

Other theology absorbed from Zoroastrians is the division of the spiritual world into good and evil with angels and demons and a final judgement.

Feel free to criticize, but this is what a Rabbi taught me in 2017!
