Priesthood of Our Lady

I just read an interesting blog - click here - which discusses the Priesthood of Mary.

Now here is a quotation:

In 1906, Pope Pius X approved a prayer which says “Mary, Virgin Priest, pray for us.” However, a Holy Office decree of 1916 forbade the use of any image that had Mary wearing vestments – some say for fear of the possibilty of an argument for women’s ordination, others that Mary as a priest was a metaphorical image taken too far.

The art paintings on the blog are very interesting, showing Our Lady in priest’s robes.

I know blogs only have the authority of their author, so I’m asking kind people here about this aspect of Our Lady in Catholic devotion and teaching.

You realize that the Church mentioned on the site, St. Chrysostom’s is an Anglican Church right?

Reading the complete article, there seems to be alot of speculation. Some examples would be: (emphasis mine)

"Just recently I was introduced to a fascinating school of thought which suggests that the Virgin Mary was, in some respects, a priest."

*"wearing what look to be chasubles with the pallium visibe beneath, "

"It has been said "

“There exists the belief” *

As far as the writer implying that the women in the artwork are wearing vestments, doesn’t really mean they are. It is their just their interpretation of the artwork.

Not just an Anglican church, but a “welcoming, culturally diverse and inclusive” Anglican church. Read : “We support the ordination of women and practicing homosexuals to the apostolic ministry, and don’t mind if you’re ‘married’ to a same-sex partner, or even lots of them at once! Not baptized? No worries; receive Communion anyway!”

Mary is a priest in the same sense that we are all priests. But she is not a presbyter of the Church.

Yeah the blog itself looks pretty sketchy. However, you could think of it as Mary being a priest in that she symbolizes the Church, from whence all grace flows. Still… that’s not what the blog article seems to imply.

Our Lady is not a "Priest " never was a “Priest” and will never be a “Priest.” St Joseph was never a Priest either. But when Jesus Christ - the Penultimate Priest according to the Order of Melchisedech as it says in Psalms - “Forever” was a little Child - he lived with and was subject to both of them. And it was by GOD’s will and consent that this was so. GOD is most pleased when we fulfill the roles he gives us according to his will and not our own. So I think things surface from time to time that seemingly apply earthy standards of order where they obviously dont apply. For arguments sake - the following question can be asked.

Would the Blessed Virgin Mary add or detract from her position as Queen of Heaven had she become a Priest OR does she hold that position because she comformed every single aspect of her human will to the will of GOD thus could never become a priest but instead pleasing him to the point of becoming the Greatest Saint?

I believe in the latter.

There is no evidence of Mary being ordained a priest by Jesus Christ. She herself did not found any church. Even though I personally do not have problems with calling Mary ‘virgin priest’, or acknowledging her as a ‘model of priesthood’, I believe she was a good example and the channel for the virtue and grace of the priesthood.
