Does anyone know a priest who wears one of these? it’s a priestly frock coat, promoted by the Council of Baltimore- Due to anticatholicism, wearing a full cassock on American streets was not a good idea, so, priests wore one of these, and then wore a cassock for Mass and other buisness. With the rise of the clerical shirt, they have fallen out of use, but were never formally abogated. Does anyone here know a priest who wears one? I think they look pretty sharp and unique, IMO…

we had an issue at my priest’s Fourth Degree for the Knights of Columbus.

Some knucklehead was convinced that he was a deacon, not a priest, due to his grey cassock/robe. (priests observe degrees rather than participate; we’re not going to presume to instruct them).

We had to explain that Eastern and Western attire (and vestments, for that matter) were different.

The real irony is that this was being held at another Eastern Catholic parish . . .

I’ve never seen a priest coat that looked like that. Looks like something a hipster would wear.

Have seen priests often wearing the black shirt, Roman collar, and black top coat that looks like a regular suit coat over that.

Looks like what Benny Hinn, a charismatic television preacher, wears.
