I have a question about requiring priests to offer sacrifice. I’m reading Dr. Brant Pitre’s book Jesus and the Jewish roots of the Eucharist. In it he mentions how in the original Passover in Egypt all the fathers of each family had a priestly ability to offer sacrifice. He then goes on to mention that this was taken away after the golden calf event and given to only the Levites. When he gets to the Last Supper he mentions that Jesus is restoring the priestly status of all 12 tribes of Israel. If this is the case in wondering why the fathers of each family cant offer sacrifice just like it was prior to the golden calf incident. If this is what Jesus was restoring then it seems to logically follow. Please if someone could help with this.
