Priests and Smoking

I’d go to Mass at this priest’s parish. He isn’t hiding it from anyone, and I think that is honest. Honest priests must be good ones.

I’m with StrawberryJam. At least he’s honest about his faults.

In general though I don’t see why it would be a sin to take certain drugs, but not a sin to take others, such as alcohol and tobacco. If it’s illegal in your country that’s one thing, but I don’t see why using a bit of marijuana in Amsterdam would be any worse than having a couple beers.

There are enough chemicals and poisions in our food, air and drinking water - if you choose not to smoke, that is good. If you choose to only eat organic local food, that is good. It is still NOT sinful to smoke a marlboro or eat a big mac - if done in moderation. What is moderation? That is between a person and their confessor.

While I do agree with the direction of your post, I must say that marlboro(commercial cig) isn’t all pure tobacco, but good amount other additives and such that I mentioned earlier.
