Priests and their clothing requirments

(Just gonna say sorry if this is in the wrong spot right now) So occasionally I will schedule a confession with my local priest. It takes place in his office and when I go there he’s usually just wearing a polo and dress pants or other typical work clothes. I didn’t think much about it at the time, but while on this form, I read that priests are required to wear the typical “Roman Collar” get-up when they’re out an about. So, is this true, or should my priest not be wearing polos (or at least not when he’s on church duty.)?
