I’m getting old so i don’t remember when/where he said this but the Pope (J.P. II) has said that a priest should not (he might have said “should never”…it’s the same idea either way) attend Mass as if he were a lay person.

If we still had reputation points, you could see that I’m “well respected by many Catholics” (or even better) and you could just trust me on this one as i have no documentation…🙂

Joe Kelley:
I heard that our priests are being issued picture ID by the diocese to establish their credentials when traveling. I suspect that it must be renewed periodically.
Priests have always carried a “Celebrate” issued by their Bishop or Superior. They do not generally require the permission of the local Bishop as before but must usually obtain the permission of the local Pastor today.

We have a priest, who lives in an apartment in our parish, who has lost his faculties because of a disagreement with his bishop. He can not preach Etc, but can con-celebrate as he is still a priest. Please pray for him. He is a very humble man, and will not appeal to Rome. The disagreement is about assignment only. A letter of faculties must be on file in our diocese for all visiting priests or no faculties. He is from India. He often sits with the congregation.

Deacon Tony

I am not a priest, nor a deacon (I’m a woman)…but I have been a minister of music for as long as I can remember…Began singing as a child, and grew up loving to “do harmony”… Music has always been a primary part of my worship…

**However, I have started just “being” at Mass, and it has been good for me…When I am doing music, I am always preparing for the next “thing”… There really is not an opportunity to simply worship. **

I knw I will go back to singing at Mass, because it means too much to me to give up entirely. But, I also know that the “break” has been good for me.

Of course, when RCIA starts (I am on the Team), it will be difficult to sing, too, so I might sit some Masses out…Can’t do everything.

**Everyone who does any kind of ministry needs to recharge their batteries from time to time. It is often a real treat to just “be” at Mass. **
