When the priest gives the homily from the ambo it always comes across as Authoritative. From the chair or anywhere else, especially in the middle somewhere with whatever type of mic, it comes off like stage act.I believe the GIRM says the sermon should be delivered from the pulpit, or the priest’s chair, and there is some language allowing them to stand between those locations. This opens the door to the perambulating. I always find the walking around to be a trendy affectation. Just gimme a good homily without the theatrics!!!

IMO anything less than from the ambo ends up being shallow. The Church structure has an ambo there for reason… I wish they’d all just use it!
